The fifth stage of the Gran Via del Devero holds the undisputed charm of exploration and history: it unfolds largely (though not exclusively) along the ancient route of the Via Stockalper — a commercial way that historically connected Domodossola to Brig. It follows the right-hand side of the Diveria stream, along paths that are at times difficult to imagine, wedged between water and rock. Along the way, you will encounter thousand-year-old bridges, charming hamlets, and sun-drenched terraces overlooking the valley of Domodossola, ancient panoramic vineyards, unexpected corners of peace, and stunning forests. This gentle, meditative, and fascinating journey leads us towards one of the most beautiful cities in the Alps and, if you wish, towards its Sacred Mountain. We are at the end of our journey.
