The third stage of the Gran Via del Devero is the famous, stunning, and iconic traverse from Alpe Devero to Alpe Veglia. This hike is rightly considered one of the most beautiful crossings in the entire Alpine region: it allows you to move from the Devero plateau — it would be unforgivable not to take an extra day to explore it thoroughly, discovering its myriad perspectives! — along the gorgeous Val Buscagna, to the plain of Veglia, in the presence of the majestic Monte Leone (3553 m a.s.l.) — again, consider an extra day to explore the surroundings! The stage crosses the Scatta d'Orogna (2461 m a.s.l.) and the Passo di Valtendra (2431 m a.s.l.), at the highest elevations of the entire route. It's a journey through ancient larch forests, severe and majestic peaks, and gentle meadows crossed by streams flowing calmly to the rhythms of centuries and millennia. One word to describe this stage? Magnificent!
